A Gastronome Experience

The problem with SOME men is that they can be rather stubborn and unadventurous when it comes to food. Let me use my-other-half to exemplify. Eating at the same restaurant, check. Placing an order for the same dish, check. From what i see, its time for a change, its time to step out of comfort zone, its time to check out Ichibantei~

Ichibantei, located in the quieter corner of Robertson Quay. The restaurant was equally quiet on a Sunday afternoon as well. It was either Miharu or Ichibantei, but having tried Miharu, i chose to dine at the latter as it would better aid me in drawing comparisons. Come to think of it, i probably am on the hunt for the best ramen.

Tonkotsu Cha-Shu Ramen, $14

The soup was milky, full of flavor and very salty. My-other-half liked it, that should say enough.

Miso Cha-Shu Ramen, $14

There was too much miso in this. The egg was over-cooked as well. The thickness of the Cha-shu amazes me! In fact, they were rather generous with the portions too.

Thick, juicy, and fat. I love my Cha-Shu.

Matcha Ice-Cream, $4, additional $1 for Adzuki topping

A sweet treat to round off the meal. My-other-half doesn’t understand how anyone can like matcha. “That green thing..”, he terms it. I on the other hand do not understand why people do not enjoy Matcha like i do. Matcha and Adzuki Red Beans, a perfect match-made in heaven!

One of the least expensive in Robertson Quay, the prices at Ichibantei were decently priced. The ramen i had today was acceptable, falling slightly short of impressive. Ramen joints like Tampopo and Miharu still leave a better and more lasting impression on me.
